About

The CRRA (previously CPOA) was established in 1950 as the official Ratepayer’s Association for Constantia and is also registered as a Conservation Body with Heritage Western Cape.  As a PBO, the CRRA is able to provide S18A certificates for any flora and fauna donations over R5 000.

Our responsibilities as a Ratepayers’ Association

Control land use and building:

  • Scrutinse and comment on all planning applications.
  • Report unauthorised building work.
  • Report land use contraventions.

 

Dealing with common complaints such as :

  • roads & traffic
  • stormwater, water, sewerage
  • taxis
  • noise nuisances
  • vagrancy
  • illegal dumping
  • film shoots etc

 

Involvement with special projects, for example:

  • Fibre to the home
  • Alternative Garden waste drop-off sites
  • Constantia-Tokai Valley Proclamation as a Grade 1 Cultural Landscape
  • Greenbelt cycle routes

Our responsibilities as a Conservation Body

Conservation of Rural and Cultural Heritage:

  • Any planning application that requires Heritage approval is referred to the CRRA for comment ; and
  • Our Heritage sub-committee will visit the property, investigate and discuss every application.

Conservation of Natural Heritage:

  • Many planning applications also require comment on natural Heritage ; and
  • We work in collaboration with Friends of Constantia Valley Greenbelt to maintain and preserve the greenbelts, rivers and wetlands.

Committees

The CRRA consists of an Executive Committee and various sub-committees.  The AGM is held in the latter half of evey year and all ratepayers and property owners are encouraged to attend, stand for election and vote.  Member involvement is welcomed as this helps shape the future of the Constantia Valley.
