Embassy Hill Liquor License Application – Number: LLA1703001
This is happening and our Ward Councillor, that you voted for, inexplicably approves of it.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO WARD COUNCILLORS THAT YOU VOTE FOR ACTING IN THE INTERESTS OF RESIDENTS??
The CRRA received the below notice for the application of a liquor licensed for 89 & 91 Southern Cross Drive. This property used to be the old Dutch Embassy which was fairly recently bought by The Forum Company PTY LTD, a Johannesburg based company. http://theforumweddings.co.za/embassy-hill/
Despite our formal objection, as well as those nearby residents, the City of Cape Town approved the rezoning of this property to allow it to be used a function venue.
WE CANNOT EMPHASISE MORE STRONGLY OUR OBJECTION TO THIS.
- THIS IS A RESIDENTIAL AREA!!
- THERE ARE NO STREET LIGHTS!
- NO PARKING ON SOUTHERN CROSS DRIVE – NOT EVEN A PEDESTRIAN PATH!
- THERE IS A FRAIL CARE AND OLD AGE HOME 750M AWAY!
- NOISE TRAVELS AT NIGHT IN THE PEACEFUL VALLEY!
- THERE ARE NO SIMILAR VENUES IN THE AREA!
We have been inundated with complaints from neighbouring residents as well as Constantia residents as a whole, as they feel (as we do) that this simply cannot be allowed to happen.
The City of Cape Town does not, by its own admission, have the resources to control traffic, enforce By Laws (Law Enforcement) and when last did you see a Metro Police Car in Constantia – its because there are none!!
The only Law Enforcement vehicles in Constantia are those that are funded directly by RESIDENTS who contribute towards the Constantia Neighbourhood Watch, who incidentally ALSO object to this application.
Southern Cross is already a busy and dangerous road as vehicles speed and mini taxis run amok. The last thing it now needs is drunken drivers.
Please help us and sign this online petition which we will take to our Ward Councillor and which will be attached to our objection.
