Drug Bust – Dealers selling to school children in Plumstead

drugs

After numerous complaints and tips from the Diep River community and neighbourhood watches, Diep River SAPS, under the leadership of Warrant Officer Keith Chandler observation was done at the area of complaint. It was observed that school children in school uniform were buying drugs at a car wash/petrol station in the Plumstead neighbourhood.

An application was made to the prosecuting authority for an undercover trap operation.  The application was approved and executed at 12:00 on Friday, 20 May 2016.

Police sent in an undercover officer to buy narcotics, the suspect sold to the officer.

The operation was successful with the arrest of one foreign national, aged 29.  Two other foreign nationals were brought in for questioning. Drugs seized were cannabis (dagga), being sold regularly to school children wearing uniform.

More investigation concerning children buying drugs is underway.

In no way is the car wash or petrol station linked to the drugs being sold, in fact, they were very helpful in the investigation.

The suspect will appear in Wynberg Magistrates Court on Monday, 23 May 2016 on charges of drug trafficking.

End.
